L'HISTOIRE DE SEBAGO

La marque de chaussures bateau Sebago est née il y a plus de 60 ans. La société Sebago-Moc Company est fondée en 1946 par trois natifs de Nouvelle Angleterre : Daniel J. Wellehan, William Beaudoin et Joseph Cordeau. Conçues sur le modèle des mocassins indiens, la première chaussure cousue-main fut la Penny Loafer, novatrice, elle est dotée de la structure «Goodyear» brevetée par la société. Deux ans après la fondation initiale, Sebago-Moc vendra sa chaussure bateau en cuir révolutionnaire à Uniroyal.

En 1970, Sebago-Moc présente sa chaussure bateau du nom de Docksides®. La société en profite pour supprimer «Moc» de son nom, devenant ainsi la marque connue sous le nom Sebago. Les Docksides, au succès grandissant, finiront par définir toute une gamme de chaussures bateau. Un an plus tard, Sebago lance un modèle de chaussures bateau décontractées, cousues à la machine, les Jesse Janes.

Sebago reste fidèle à ses origines, sponsorisant diverses équipes et courses nautiques, devenant le sponsor principal du consortium « Defender »' de l'America's Cup en 1992 et, plus tard, en 1995 de l'équipe Young America. Avant cela, en 1994, Sebago lance ses chaussures Drysides ® étanches.

Aujourd'hui la marque  est toujours une référence de qualité dans l'univbers de la chaussure bateau pour homme et pour femme: élégante, technique, robuste, c'est LA référence internationnale en matière de chaussures bateau
